Privacy Policy

This policy explains, in plain language, what personal information General Wholesale collects through this website, how we use and protect it, and the choices you have. We handle personal information in keeping with the principles of Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA).

Last updated: August 2026

This policy is provided as a general template and should be reviewed by legal counsel before publication.

1. Who we are

General Wholesale is the trade name of 17656866 Canada Corp., a wholesale distributor of home appliances based in Ontario, Canada. We supply retailers, property managers and landlords, builders, hospitality operators and institutions. This website is a catalogue and enquiry tool: it lets you browse products, build a quote list and send us quote requests, trade account applications and general enquiries. There is no online checkout and we do not process payments through this website.

General Wholesale is responsible for the personal information under its control. Our designated privacy contact can be reached at sales@generalwholesale.ca.

2. What information we collect

We collect only the information we need to respond to you and to do business with you.

Information you submit through our forms

When you use our quote request, trade account or contact forms, we collect the information you enter, which may include:

  • your business or organization name and business type;
  • your contact name and business email address;
  • your city and province or territory;
  • a delivery address, if you choose to provide one;
  • the products and quantities on your quote list, your fulfilment and timing preferences; and
  • the content of any message or notes you send us.

Please do not include sensitive personal information (such as financial account details or government identification numbers) in form messages. We will never ask for that information through this website.

Technical information

Like most websites, our hosting provider keeps standard server logs when pages are requested. These logs may record technical details such as your IP address, browser type and version, device type, the pages requested, the referring page and the date and time of the request. We use this information only for site security, troubleshooting and understanding how the website is used in aggregate.

3. How we use your information

We use the information you provide to:

  • respond to your quote requests and enquiries;
  • prepare and send quotes, including pricing, availability and lead times;
  • open, verify and manage trade accounts;
  • arrange pickup or delivery and otherwise fulfil orders you place with us;
  • keep accurate business records, including for accounting, warranty and dispute purposes;
  • communicate with you about your account, orders or changes to our services; and
  • maintain and improve this website.

We do not use your information for purposes unrelated to those listed above without first telling you and, where required, obtaining your consent. We do not send bulk marketing email unless you have asked to receive it, and you may opt out at any time.

We collect, use and disclose personal information with your knowledge and consent. When you submit a form on this website, you consent to us using the information you provide for the purposes described in this policy. Each form includes a consent statement so that the purpose is clear at the time you provide your information.

You may withdraw your consent at any time, subject to legal or contractual restrictions and reasonable notice, by emailing sales@generalwholesale.ca. If you withdraw consent, we may no longer be able to prepare quotes, maintain a trade account or fulfil orders for you.

5. How information is stored and shared

Form submissions on this website are processed and stored by our website hosting and forms provider, Netlify. Netlify's servers may be located outside Canada, which means your information may be subject to the laws of the jurisdiction in which it is stored. Copies of submissions are also delivered to our business email inbox so that our team can respond.

We do not sell, rent or trade personal information. We share personal information only:

  • with service providers who help us operate the website and fulfil your requests, such as our hosting and forms provider, our email provider and delivery partners or carriers (who receive only the contact and address details needed to complete a delivery);
  • with manufacturers or their authorized service agents where necessary to process a warranty claim on your behalf and you have asked us to do so;
  • where required or permitted by law, for example to comply with a court order or a lawful request from a government authority; or
  • as part of a business transaction such as a merger, financing or sale of assets, in which case the information would remain subject to this policy.

Service providers are permitted to use your information only to perform services for us and are expected to protect it appropriately.

6. Cookies and local storage

This website does not use advertising or tracking cookies, and we do not run third-party advertising or social media tracking on our pages.

Your quote list is stored in your browser's local storage on your own device. It is not sent to us until you submit a quote request. The list stays in your browser until you submit it, clear it using the "Clear list" control on the quote page, or clear your browser's site data.

Our pages load web fonts from Google Fonts. When a page loads, your browser requests the font files directly from Google, and Google may receive your IP address and standard browser information as part of that request. Google's handling of that information is governed by Google's own privacy policy.

If we introduce analytics or other cookies in the future, we will update this policy before doing so.

7. Retention

We keep personal information only for as long as it is needed for the purposes described in this policy. Quote requests and enquiries that do not lead to an order are kept for a reasonable period so we can follow up and answer questions, and are then deleted. Records related to trade accounts and completed orders are kept for as long as the account is active and afterwards for as long as required to meet our accounting, tax, warranty and legal obligations under Canadian law. When information is no longer needed, we delete it or remove the details that identify you.

8. Your rights

Subject to limited exceptions permitted by law, you have the right to:

  • Access the personal information we hold about you and learn how it has been used and shared;
  • Correct information that is inaccurate or incomplete;
  • Withdraw consent to our continued use of your information, as described in section 4;
  • Request deletion of your information where we are not required to keep it; and
  • Ask questions or raise concerns about how we handle personal information.

To exercise any of these rights, email sales@generalwholesale.ca with the subject line "Privacy request". We may need to verify your identity before acting on a request. We will respond within the time required by law, generally within 30 days. If you are not satisfied with our response, you may contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.

9. Security

We use reasonable administrative, technical and physical safeguards to protect personal information against loss, theft and unauthorized access, use or disclosure. This website is served over an encrypted (HTTPS) connection, access to form submissions and business email is limited to team members who need it to do their work, and we take care in how information is handled offline. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security, but we take the protection of your information seriously and will notify you and the relevant authorities where the law requires it.

10. Children

This website and our services are intended for businesses and organizations. They are not directed to individuals under the age of 18, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from minors. If you believe a minor has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.

11. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices, our service providers or the law. When we do, we will post the revised policy on this page and update the "Last updated" date at the top. Where a change materially affects how we use your personal information, we will take reasonable steps to bring it to your attention. We encourage you to review this page periodically.

12. Contact

Questions, requests or concerns about this policy or about how General Wholesale handles personal information can be sent by email to sales@generalwholesale.ca. You can also reach us through our contact form. General Wholesale is located in Ontario, Canada.
